CHIPS’ MESSAGE FOR CUSTOMERS
-Since each piece is made by hand, there may be slight variations in size, shape, etc.
-The glaze tends to drip and be uneven, no two pieces will have the same appearance. Please enjoy the scenery of the glaze on the vessel.
-Coarse clay is used, there may be roughness or small holes on the surface or rim of the vessels.
-The surface of the glaze may have black spots or reddish tints on the base, which are caused by iron powder in the kiln or iron contained in the clay. This will not interfere with use.
-Some pieces may have small cracks (nuki) on the surface at the time of purchase, and some pieces may develop nuki as they are used, but this does not interfere with use.
-Nugen-jiri is caused by the difference in shrinkage rate between the clay and glaze when the pot cools down and shrinks for about one month after leaving the kiln. When a piece is pierced, a small, high-pitched "kin" sound is heard. Gradually the sound stops, but the penetration continues. Please enjoy the sound of the penetration when you start to use the pot.
